Arriving and beginning

Welcome.

The moment that starts this all off is the return of our family from our longer vacation back east to Saskatchewan and points in between. The intention is first of all to communicate more with those whom we love and who love us and also to spend time reflecting and recording about all the moments that make up our life. I find that often I am watching children grow and our lives change at 100mph and I'd like to slow that down a little, and make some marks of at least something of what goes on. And so, rather than seek fame and fortune, I'd much rather just use this to remember, and story-tell.

So we got back. It is so overwhelmingly incredible that we were so taken care of and blessed by God the whole trip, and he managed to remind us over and over again how much he's got us in his hands. That is, on returning, I think I spend maybe $70 on keeping our van running, and about a million prayers and offerings. So I'm pretty rich on both points.

Today was no biggie - the Wesfalia was simply overheating trying to make the Coquihala grades in the blistering sun. We pulled over and cooled down, then kept going. I had to bleed the engine coolant again and again, but the disconcerting thing was I was doing it between Merritt and Hope with what I thought was a quarter tank of gas - and this trip a quarter tank of gas didn't get us very far. Also I didn't want to run out of coolant, so I was trying to keep the engine cool by running the water pump to keep coolant circulating, bleeding the coolant so the system would work, and not run out of gas OR coolant. Ah, well. I'd like to tell the whole mechanical story of the Westfalia east to Birch Hills and back again... over the next few posts.

When we arrived, Monique was going crazy because she needed quiet because she had been sitting in the front seat listening to 100kph wind whistling past an open window (for the heat) for 4 hours and all the kids, but especially Xavier, needed to make noise because they were cooped in a van for 4 hours. So we're all glorying in returning to our house, our beautiful house, our beautiful missed-much and delightful house, but we all have very different needs. So we went to the park. The kids moved and made noise, and Monique had cool and quiet. After she cleaned up poo.

Our house! It's so beautiful. And all our plants are growing like nuts! It's freaky hot even here in North Van, and we had a timer to water our plants and they exploded with growing. Our petunias could take over the planet! Of course, the morning glory weeds have taken over the front, so we'll have to do that soon.

We are very happy to have connected with so many loved ones, and very happy to come home.
